Ok, you have your hands full running your small business but before you get back to multitasking to the max let’s devote a little time into actionable ways that will increase your brand visibility. And I’m talking about four straightforward actionable ways you can implement.
- Website Traffic
Your website can get lost in website space if there is not traffic headed to your website. This is one of the ways you end up on page 15 of Google search results. You want to ideally land on page 1 of the search results for whatever your industry niche is. One of the top ways to do that is by improving your SEO. These guys know a lot about that.
- Social Media Presence
Have a consistent presence on your social media platform(s) of choice. Pick the platform that reaches most of your clients/customers/audiences and be sure to show up and not only post consistently but also engage consistently. Most small businesses drop the ball either with consistency or the engagement or with both, yikes. No matter if you have a love/hate relationship with social media, as a small business owner, you must put in this effort.
- Long form content
Long form content offers valuable information for your clients/customers or audience. This can be in the form of a blog, a YouTube channel, or a podcast to name a few. When you are offering long form content, it positions you as the expert in your industry niche. This content is also searchable on major search engines, which gives you the opportunity for increased traffic to your website, more people knowing about your business and opportunities for people to engage with your business. Have you heard of the know, like and trust factor? You can read about it here. Long form content is playing the long game with the potential of great results.
- Let your customers/clients/audience be your megaphone
That good ol’ fashioned word-of-mouth. Nothing like it. What you want to do as a small business owner is encourage your customers/clients or audience to spread the word for you and be your megaphone. You want to encourage them to leave reviews and spread the word. This can easily be done via social media, placed on your website, or posted directly to a search engine like Google reviews (just a little search engine you may have heard of). It also doesn’t hurt to incentivize your loyal clients either with a discount or special offer.
These four ways compounded together will make a difference. Running ads will help and are a great tool but you also want to counterbalance paid advertising with some of these free ways of increasing your brand visibility. Another way to boost your visibility is by using video strategically to increase your brand visibility, you can read more about that here.
And as always, remember, you work way too hard to blend in!
